Obituary

Our precious, loving and supportive Mom went to rest in the LORD on August 9th, 2017. She will be missed by all who knew her. At the moment of her passing she was surrounded by all 4 of her children. She would want us simply to take this time to thank all of the lovely people whose life paths have crossed with hers for sharing their love and life with her. First and foremost is our Dad, Bruce, the love of her life who passed in 2006. Then our thanks to those who have known Mom for many of her 98 years: who knew her as a young mother with 4 children; those who knew her at the old First Methodist Church downtown and at Wesley when the family migrated to the new congregation; those who knew Mom as Director of Shepherd's Center (later Life-Long Learning); those who travelled with the family on summer camping trips around the Pacific Northwest; all the teachers, student office aides and other staff during the years Mom kept Eisenhower High School running efficiently; the wonderful friends of Mom and Dad who enjoyed many travels as "empty nesters"; all of her many friends in both the United Methodist Women and at Women's Century Club where she served in various capacities; The Wesley Choir where she sang alto for many years; the good friends in the In-Betweeners group at church over the years; her PEO sisters in Chapter HK; to her many bridge playing friends; and the most wonderful and caring staff at the Living Care community where she resided for over 10 years; but especially to the most incredible nurses and many other care-givers during her time in Assisted Living/Hillcrest at Living Care. We, her 4 children and spouses, (Doug Layfield, Linda Layfield/Roger Severson, Don Layfield and Diann Rockstrom/Ron) want to express our most heartfelt THANKS to all of you who blessed Mom's life. We include our thanks to our loving family including Mom's many nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She has left us all with a wonderful example of a gracious life well lived. When she knew she was leaving us, she promised to greet Dad for us. We will miss her and have hope to meet again in God's glorious Kingdom.

Services will be held at Wesley United Methodist church on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

Donations in her memory may be made to United Methodist Women at Wesley, Chapter HK of PEO or to Hillcrest at Living Care.
