Craig Dean Sundquist, 70, of Yakima, WA passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on November 24, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. He was born January 21, 1946, to Dean and Alba Sundquist in Seattle, WA. He attended schools on Mercer Island. After high school he attended Central Washington University where on October 14, 1964 he met the love of his life, Patricia Cambern. They were married in Coeur d'Alene, ID on January 21, 1966.

He began his career as a rod man on a survey crew and then went up the ranks with Seattle City Light from 1968 until 1983 when he obtained his license to become a professional land surveyor and became self-employed. He owned and operated Sundquist Land Surveying from 1983 until his death.

Craig served in the Army National Guard from 1966-1972. He was also a 30 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a member of Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Craig's second love was the outdoors. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved hunting and camping. One of his cherished memories was the family annual trip to Seiku, WA for salmon fishing when his kids were younger. He loved the summers when he and Trisha would go for drives in the country and he would fish with his grandkids. One of his much loved adventures was going out to the woods and building a fire to just sit and relax.

Craig is survived by his wife, Patricia, children: Robert (Tami) Sundquist (grandkids: Leila, lane, and Otto) from Lewisville, TX and Deborah (John) Thomas (grandkids: Michelle, Trevor, Lauren and Colin) from Selah, his mother: Alba (Mercer Island), brothers: Lance (Georganne) and Lee (Carol) Sundquist. He is preceded in death by his father, Dean Sundquist and his favorite faithful canine companion, Charra.

A memorial may be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington National Parks Foundation, WNPF.org or the Yakima Humane Shelter, 2405 W. Birchfield Road, Yakima, WA 98901.
