Hazel Flory Peterson, 92, of Yakima, WA, peacefully passed away on May 13, 2017 at Cottage in the Meadow, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 17, 1924 in Placerville, CA to Wood Oliver and Anne (Flory) McClintock. She was raised and educated in central California and graduated from Reedley Junior College. She married Robert R. Peterson on September 24, 1944. Together they had 3 children, Karen, Dale and Karl.

Hazel was a loving, committed wife and mom, and a dearly loved friend to many. Hazel had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior. Her love for Jesus was seen daily in the way she lived her life. Hazel loved her family and was deeply loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She served people, whether it was in her home where she prepared delicious meals or serving through her church as a teacher, mentor, friend, she was involved in the lives of others. She spent her last 8 years in assisted living and continued to bring joy and encouragement to those she met. Throughout her life Hazel enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, reading and doing hand-work.

Hazel is survived by her daughter Karen Jones (Ronald), and son Dale Peterson (Midge) all of Yakima; seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Peterson, and her son Karl Peterson.

The family would like to thank all the care givers from Hillcrest, Fieldstone and Cottage in the Meadow who so lovingly and carefully attended to Hazel.
Instead of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.

There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
